From custard to rice pudding, Ambrosia products have been lovingly made in the village of Lifton, Devon since 1917. The original but thoroughly modernised factory still operates today from the same site.
The brand has a strong British heritage and the very first Ambrosia product was a dried milk powder which was used regularly in the First World War to feed British troops.
Their iconic Ambrosia Creamed Rice, which is today the best-known of the range, was launched during the Second World War and Ambrosia Devon Custard followed some years later in 1969 as the first ever canned custard.
Quality Devonshire milk is at the heart of Ambrosia, which is why have been sourcing their milk from local Red Tractor Certified farms since 2012.
Jemma Woolley from the Ambrosia team explained why this was important to their shoppers:
“By putting the Red Tractor logo on our products, we can give confidence to our consumers that the ten lorry loads of milk we use each day to make our Ambrosia products can be traced back to the farms who produce them. It also shows that these farms follow strict high standards for food safety, hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection.”
