Meet Guy Poskitt, Red Tractor crops and vegetable grower
Guy Poskitt grows carrots and other fresh produce in Kellington, East Yorkshire, supplying Asda as well as food service and wholesale markets. He grows over 1400 acres of carrots a year with the help of more than 280 staff and a packhouse capable of washing up to 300 tonnes of fresh vegetables a day! It’s not just carrots that Guy produces; he also grows 200 acres of parsnips and 150 acres of swedes as well as wheat, barley and sugar beet.
“As primary producers and packers we are responsible for every step in the supply chain to the supermarket door. Being Red Tractor assured gives our customers the very highest level of confidence in our produce and that in turn gives confidence to their shoppers”.
The Red Tractor logo with the Union flag on your fresh produce means that the product has been grown, processed and packed in the UK and that the farm has been independently inspected to ensure that it meets standards in relation to environmental protection, traceability and food safety. It’s the simplest way to find food you can trust when shopping.
Julia Cheetham, Red Tractor Recruit who has visited Guy Poskitt’s farm explains why she feels the Red Tractor is important to her: “I feel it is very important for families to know exactly where their food is from and that’s exactly why I spend my time educating others about the Red Tractor and why I started Open Farm Sunday”
