Red Tractor for Wholesalers and Distributors
Red Tractor is the leading quality assurance scheme for food and drink produced in the UK. It sets internationally recognised standards for food safety, animal welfare and environmental protection on beef & lamb, pork, poultry, dairy, fruit and vegetables and crops, like flour and sugar.
Red Tractor is not just about quality assurance on farms, Red Tractor is a whole chain assurance scheme, covering every step of the food supply chain starting with the farm and including the processor and packer, wholesaler, distributor and food service.
Thinking about joining Red Tractor as a licensee?
Red Tractor is becoming increasingly important to food service as consumers demand greater transparency of the food they buy when eating out, as well as in store. There are over 2000 UK food service outlets serving Red Tractor sourced food across the UK all looking for approved suppliers.
If you’re a wholesaler or distributor supplying contract caterers, QSR, pubs and restaurants, hotels, local authorities, independent staff canteens, universities, schools, hospitals and cafes then Red Tractor Assurance can benefit your business.
Benefits to your business
Red Tractor has the power to make your business more profitable by giving your customers peace of mind about the food you supply.
As a licensee you can use the Red Tractor logo on your product lists*, tender documents, website, emails and social media – in short, all your marketing literature. The Red Tractor logo is an independent endorsement of the quality of your products. It’s a valued and simple method to tell your customers you source food and drink from farmers and processors devoted to food safety, animal welfare and respect for the environment.
*Please note you do not have to sell only Red Tractor products, for example you can offer non-assured and Red Tractor sausages in the same product list but you must be clear about which product is Red Tractor assured.
A competitive edge
The logo is an authoritative mark that will not only strengthen your Corporate Social Responsibility plan but also give you a competitive edge that will help you win new business.
If you supply your customers with Red Tractor food and drink you’ll be giving them the opportunity to engage their customers on the ethical credentials of their food. According to Allegra Strategies over half of consumers state they would prefer to eat out at establishments where ingredients are sustainable or sourced locally and the key driver or this demand was a “feel good factor” and “the right thing to do ethically” *.

Guarantee of British Origin
The Red Tractor logo with the Union Jack provides an independent guarantee of origin. Use it to highlight your commitment to sourcing food that’s been farmed, processed and packed in the UK.
