Know your logos

We often get asked how the Red Tractor logo compares with other logos on pack. It can be difficult to know what all the logos on food labels actually mean. We’ve pulled together the information below to help you make the right choices about the food you buy.

Simple guide to the logos you see on pack.

Red Tractor
Red Tractor
Red Tractor is the largest food scheme in the UK, which covers all aspects of the food’s lifespan. The Red Tractor logo indicates that food is safe to eat, and has been produced responsibly - from farm to fork.

We cover an extensive range of products including, meat, poultry, dairy, cereals, fruit and vegetables. We are strict with our regulations and cover everything, including food safety and traceability, animal welfare and environmental protection.
The flag in the Red Tractor logo tells you where the food has been farmed, processed and packed. It’s a sign to represent quality food that you can trust – Trust the tractor.

All LEAF Marque certified farms are independently inspected to ensure they meet the LEAF Marque Standard which is based on LEAF’s Integrated Farm Management (IFM) principles.

The LEAF Marque Standard is additional and complementary to other farm assurance schemes including Red Tractor Assurance, GLOBALG.A.P. and other recognised national assurance systems, which are independently verified. There are currently over 35 countries around the world with LEAF Marque certified businesses.

The RED TRACTOR scheme covers a broader range of standards, including food safety, animal welfare and food traceability. All LEAF Marque certified farms in the UK must also be RED TRACTOR certified.
