All Red Tractor farmers are required to follow our Code of Practice for On-Farm Feeding, which was revised in April 2010 to ensure it is up to date. The code was developed in partnership with the Food Standards Agency and the Advisory Committee on Animal Feedstuffs to provide practical advice on protecting the health of livestock and making sure that meat and dairy products are safe for the public to eat. Guidance is provided for farmers on grazing their animals, making feed on the farm and buying it in from outside. The code shows our farmers how to avoid contamination of pasture with manure, to keep farm chemicals out of watercourses where their animals drink, and to store feed safely and hygienically.
