Quality British Turkey (QBT) is the world’s leading farm assurance scheme for turkey production. The QBT standards focus on the health and welfare of the birds, food safety for the public and making sure every turkey can be traced back to its farm of origin. Farmers must ensure that all birds have ready access to fresh water and receive a nutritionally balanced diet. They must also ensure that their turkeys have adequate shelter, a comfortable resting area and the freedom to express normal behaviour. This means providing enough space for each bird to flap and stretch its wings, walk, turn, sit, preen and dust bathe.
